The Tonopah Conservation District continues to coordinate with & support NRCS, DCNR, USDA, BLM, USFS, FSA, NDOW and other agencies to disseminate program information & developments to producers via email, newsletters and meetings. Additionally, the Tonopah Conservation District, together with the Northern Nye/Esmeralda Cooperative Weed Management Area (NNECWMA), supports & helps coordinate weed abatement projects on both public and private lands, with treatments administered by Tri County Weed Control and funded by the BLM & USFS/RAC.
Nye County Weed Control Partnerships
Continue noxious weed control assistance and GPS mapping through CWMA for the Monitor Valley, Big Smoky Valley and Reese River Valley. TCD will utilize TriCounty Weed, support the Bootstraps Program, and provide producers with costshare initiatives that assist them with weed control efforts.
Promote and support local, state and national programs
TCD will continue to support the Nevada Youth Range Camp program with is held each June. In past years, the TCD has provided a scholarship for a Nye County resident youth to participate in the camp experience. TCD commits to support the Tonopah Bootstraps Program, NvACD, NACD, NRCS and DCNR by attending meetings, providing funding, membership dues and/or other support to these partners.
Provide education and assistance to producers
TCD will maintain an office in Round Mountain, Nevada, in order to provide education outreach and program assistance to producers in its service area. TCD provides for a contracted employee to staff the office as well as share the office with other staff from partnering agencies in order to provide individualized services for producers. TCD will provide hands on assistance with producers for completing, filing and following up on Farm Bill Program applications.
Sage Grouse Initiatives
TCD will continue to actively participate in the pursuit of implementation of sage grouse initiative practices within the district and will continue to liaise with the relevant agencies in pursuit of same.
