I was born, raised and operate a farm/ranch in Eastern Colorado. The livestock and small grain farming that I grew up with has evolved to entirely livestock production and haying to support the cow-calf herd. As a relatively small operation this allowed me to work with other farmers and small companies in the agricultural field. These varying experiences exposed me to a multitude of operations and management styles. While receiving my engineering degree at Colorado State University, I worked for numerous employers which built my regulatory knowledge, engineering experience and still kept me chasing cows for area feeders. These employers included a biosolids management company, university engineering research center, and cattle feeding operation. Spare time was a rarity with many extracurricular activities including American Society of Agricultural Engineers, Alpha Gamma Rho, and Farm Bureau keeping me busy. This experience base helped me progress to a position as an engineer for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. It is with the federal government that I was trained and developed much of my professional demeanor. Building on the training that NRCS provided, I moved to a private consulting firm where I spent several years before moving on to begin THEngineering. THEngineering allows me to merge my background and passion for the agricultural industry with my experience in design and regulatory mitigation. All of this experience makes you the benefactor by not having to train your consultant about your business.
