Our small flock, of just under sixty birds are varied breeds of brown layers, meaning that the eggs are all varying shades of brown shells. We let them free range throughout the day and feed them only organic pellets and scratch. At night we herd them back into the barn to keep them safe. We have wall mounted laying beds so the ladies are never caged or penned in.
