Ventana Wildlife Society received its nonprofit status in 1982 and immediately got to work restoring the Bald Eagle to central coastal California.  After successfully re-establishing the bald eagle to the wild, work begun to save the California Condor. Together, these species are two of the most iconic birds in the world,  and are native to central California. Through a combination of rigorous scientific research, strategic communications, and proprietary outdoor curriculum we created effective tools to address tomorrow's ecosystem management challenges. Ventana Wildlife Society will apply this proprietary methodology to recover threatened and endangered birds and species of concern to promote successful wildlife conservation.  Additionally, Ventana Wildlife Society is the proud manager of two wildlife sanctuaries in central California. 

Working closely with local schools and other youth service providers, especially in the underserved communities, we also inspire hope for people and wildlife to thrive together by offering meaningful educational experiences for all ages. Ventana Wildlife Society educators strive to create citizen scientists and to inspire the next generation of wildlife stewards. The mission is to conserve native wildlife and their habitats through science, education, and collaboration. Ventana Wildlife Society employs a full-time staff and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
