Brian Higgs grew up in Idaho Falls. He then attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Geology in 1983.

Immediately after graduation from college, Brian started work with the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Water Resources Division; the premier governmental agency for terrestrial waters. He worked there for almost 8 years gathering experience in all aspects of groundwater and surface water data collection and analysis.

In 1989, Brian began working for the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) as a Scientist in the geology section. The INL is a Department of Energy nuclear facility for research. Brian worked on numerous and varied projects including managing the drilling and sampling for the entire INL. Work at the INL took Brian across the United States performing various hydrologic projects including extensive work with Underground Storage Tanks (UST's).

In 1995, Brian and his wife, Barbara, formed Water Well Consultants, Inc. Today it has grown to include contracts with 7 groundwater/irrigation districts and clients in almost every aspect of hydrogeology. The company employs 2 full-time employees, 3 part-time employees and 5 seasonal field employees, plus additional office staff as needed.
