The West Virginia Conservation Agency works to conserve the state’s soil and water resources through partnerships with the state’s 14 Conservation Districts and others.
These partnerships date from the late-1930s and 1940s with the formation of West Virginia’s first Conservation Districts, and continues today with programs to help farmers install best management practices to improve their lands, maintain and repair watershed flood-control and water supply structures, respond to flood events, reduce non-point source water pollution and protect and promote the health and safety of the state’s 1.8 million residents.
