The mission of the Westside Resource Conservation District (Westside RCD) is to conserve the soil, water, air quality, energy, and wildlife of the farms and livestock ranches in the District.
The Westside RCD is a special district authorized by Division 9 of the State of California Public Resources Code. It is a non-profit organization made up of landowners, farmers and ranchers whose land is in western Fresno and Kings Counties in Central California. Six hundred thousand acres in the district are farm land, and four hundred thousand acres are livestock range. Approximately 85% of the land is privately owned, the remainder being owned primarily by the Federal Bureau of Land Management.
The three programs the Westside RCD is currently implementing are watershed management, soil salts and drainage management, and terrestrial and aquatic habitat management, in addition to which the district endeavors to support Clean Energy Project compatible with agriculture.
