Winn Parish is located in west central Louisiana and consists of 972 square miles. Forestry is a leading industry and of extreme importance to the welfare of Winn Parish.  Winn has five incorporated municipal areas; Atlanta, Calvin, Dodson, Sikes and Winnfield, the parish seat. Mild winters, accessibility to major medical centers, low cost of living, affordable real estate, a relatively low crime rate and the picturesque- ness of Winn Parish make it an attractive place for retirees and others. 

The Winn Parish Extension coordinates the Master Gardner Program, horticulture field days, chemical testing on lawns, produce, pasture, timber and ponds, as well as fertilization recommendations. They are also a great resource for landscaping projects. The extension also organizes the Winn Farmers Market and Market Fest, collaborating with local groups and producers.
