The Indianhead District is the northern most district in the state and includes Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Sawyer, Washburn counties. Gardening in the northern part of the state can be quite challenging as the growing season can begin two weeks behind and end two weeks earlier than the rest of the state. We depend on our three clubs and their members to provide each other with growing tips and support as we garden. Interested gardeners are always welcome to join us.
Spooner Garden Club developed a memorial garden at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery almost 20 years ago. Supported by Spooner Garden Club members, the garden provides a meditative space for visitors. Each spring, members are proud to participate in planting annual plants to augment the beauty and serenity of this final resting place and memorial in Spooner.
The Spooner Garden Club was established in 1932 and remains very active in the Spooner community. The club meets every 4th Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m.
