Yellow Dog Watershed Preserve

OUR MISSION:

YDWP is committed to “preserving the Yellow Dog Watershed in its most natural state for the use of the public now, and for the benefit of future generations.”

The Yellow Dog Watershed Preserve is a grassroots organization comprised of individuals who take environmental ethics to heart. We focus on informing the public about the watershed, conducting sound science, and protecting the land and water from threats like sulfide mining, irresponsible logging, and poorly regulated development.

There are many pressures on rivers and forests, and we balance our obligation to protect the wilderness with consideration of the human need to access it for physical, emotional, and spiritual rejuvenation.

Our watershed is one of the last truly unspoiled wilderness areas in the eastern United States, located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in Baraga and Marquette County. The Yellow Dog River runs free and clean through wild country as it makes its way to Lake Superior. This is how we would like it to stay. If you share our vision, please consider becoming a member or making a donation.
