Yucaipa Valley Conservancy is managed by an all-volunteer, six member, Board of Directors. There is no paid staff. Working as private citizens and at the behest of local government, the Directors locate, acquire, and preserve vital habitat areas. Beginning in the spring of 1999, the Directors acquired donated land and cash donations and converted these assets to purchase land that now comprise four significant habitat and open space preserves:
- Wildwood Canyon State Park - dedicated May 2003 (850 acres)
- El Dorado Ranch Preserve & Open Space - dedicated Jan. 2014 (335 acres)
- Wildwood Canyon Oak Habitat & Preserve - gifted to the City of Yucaipa Oct. 2014 (75 acres)
- Five Winds Ranch - purchased together with the City of Yucaipa Feb. 2016 (10 acres)
